Dr. Clarke's off to England and France!

I have the wonderful opportunity to spend some time this summer in England and France. All of the children who have been in Mrs. Teague's class or Mrs. Owens' class have studied these countries, so I hope to share my experiences with those students especially! I will also be spending a day visiting an elementary school in Battle, England. The principal there has invited me for a visit, so hopefully it will be the beginning of a fun and productive relationship between both of our schools!

Normandy

Known as the site of D-Day in World War II - June 6, 1944........I was able to tour Normandy as part of the "Band of Brothers" tour. So, so sad to see the numbers of cemetery markers in the American cemetery. It was also remarkable to see such beautiful beaches, and how that beauty was pretty deceptive of the history.

This is so beautiful, and yet, t is ironic that such tragedy occurred in the midst of such serene surroundings.
